Rules

Rules (...and Additional Information) There are only a few simple requirements to participate in the World Post Project. In order to participate:
  1. You must be 13 years of age or older.
  2. You cannot reside in or be subject to the jurisdiction of Bhutan, Cuba, Iran, and/or North Korea. (The U.S. State Department has no diplomatic relations with these areas.)
  3. You must send us a letter or a postcard. Packages and large parcels cannot be accepted, and shipping services like FedEx and UPS cannot deliver to our P.O. box.
  4. Your mail cannot contain language, pictures, or other items that are obscene, defamatory, hateful, threatening, libelous, invade the privacy of any individual, or aim to incite violence.
  5. Your mail cannot contain content that is illegal, classified, or confidential.
... and Other Useful Information
  1. Size of Mail. Dimensions of postcards/envelopes should be no larger than 5.5 in. by 14.75 in. (roughly 13.97 cm. by 37.46 cm.) in size to ensure they fit within our P.O. box.
  2. Including Other Items. If you are sending us a letter, we will accept any photos, stickers, and/or magazine/newspaper clippings, etc. you may choose to include with it, provided the items conform to all other rules listed and are not items you want or need back. We can't send anything back to you.
  3. Language of Mail. Postcards and letters should be written in English. Google Translate may be able to help you with this if English is not your first language or a language you speak.
    • If you CANNOT write in English but can write in Russian or Italian, send us your postcard or letter in that. We can't guarantee that we'll be able to translate it and post it, but we'll do our best.
    • If you cannot send your postcard or letter in any of the languages mentioned, e-mail worldpostproject[at]gmail.com and we'll try to work something out using an Internet-based translator.
  4. Content of Mail. Don't feel like you need to change the world/have some greater purpose in mind when writing to us. Write what you feel like, as long as it's you. If you fill your postcard or letter with seemingly mundane or frivolous details of your life - that's fine and still completely appropriate. =) We encourage you to share whatever information you find appropriate about your life, experiences, thoughts, culture, beliefs, goals, dreams, environment, region, etc. Tell us what it’s like to be you or what it’s like to live where you live, or about the place you are temporarily.
  5. Content of the Website. Lauren has sole discretion in determining what received content will be posted on this website. She reserves the right to post text and/or photos of everything (except your last name/surname, mailing address, and/or e-mail address) sent to the P.O. box, to post only parts of the content received, and/or not to post any of the content at all if it violates any of the rules or is otherwise judged by Lauren to be inappropriate. Please note that we reserve the right to alter the name/nickname/handle you give us if we deem it appropriate to do so.
